Children’s Ministry Happenings for Week Ending December 10, 2017

Advent is upon us! Our church has developed a devotional guide, complete with coloring, that can help families prepare mentally and spiritually for Christmas. Physical copies are available at the church anytime, or you can check out the electronic version here: Advent Guide

Also, our kids will be performing their Christmas program THIS Sunday at the beginning of the 11 service. Chelle would like to touch base with all the kids after FirstKids Serve on Wednesday at 6, and is requesting that the Tribe 1 kids stay for a dress rehearsal. In addition, we are asking for ALL kids to be to the church by 10:15 (nursery included), so we can practice a bit more beforehand.

Tribe 1 (4th-6th)

Small group time this week will primarily consist of the kids discussing what they hope for this group into the future as we make plans for after the New Year. We will also grapple with what is a rule based religion vs. a faith based relationship with Jesus, recognizing the importance of rules while understanding that rules can’t be the whole story.

For FirstKids Serve, we will be finishing up the stockings we’re making for the Safe House kids. As stated earlier, Chelle is also planning to work on some music; Libby and Brian offered to get pizza for the kids. Thanks Johnson family!

Lastly, the Cantata is on Dec. 17 at 4:30, and our youth group and choir host a soup and pie dinner afterward as a fundraiser. The youth group portion helps fund our missions trips and camp scholarships, so I thought it would be great for our Tribe 1 kids to start participating! Please let me know if you can provide some food and/or help work.

Tribe 2 (K-3rd)

For FirstKids Serve, our Tribe 2 kids will be going shopping for the Safe House stockings.

On Sunday, they will be doing program practice, so no Sunday School. Also, it’s Family Worship Sunday, so FirstKids Worship won’t be meeting either!

Nursery

Our nursery kids starting talking about a very special baby who was coming…Jesus! They will also be participating in the music on Sunday at 11, so please have them to the church by 10:15 so they can practice beforehand.

Blessings,

Valecia Scribner
