Children’s Ministry Happenings for Week Ending September 10, 2017

THIS IS THE WEEK!

We are starting up our Wednesday programs tomorrow, read about it below. Also, remember to be recruiting 3 prayer partners for your kids; you should have received a letter explaining the process a few weeks ago. The basic idea is to connect three people from the congregation (who are not related to you) to your kid to strengthen intergenerational bonds. I have more of the My 3 Cards if you need a replacement. Prayer partners agree to pray for your kid at least weekly, and we’ll have social activities quarterly so they can spend more time together. You can download a Word Document with this link My_Prayer_Partner that I’ll be giving to my kids’ prayer partners as a visual reminder of their commitment and to give them an idea of what your kid is like. It’s nothing fancy, but feel free to use it if it’s helpful.

Blessings,

Tribe 1 (4th-6th grade)

Small group time starts tomorrow at 4. This week will be strictly fun activities as a welcome back celebration and will give the kids a chance to get to know one another a little better. We will be having a Nerf war and will do some getting to know you activities. Invite your friends! Let me know if transportation is needed.
FirstKids Serve also starts this week, starting at 5. It will be mostly planning activities for the year ahead.

Tribe 2 (K-3rd)

FirstKids Serve starts on Wednesday at 5; we will be doing some Nerf activities as well as some planning. Encourage your kids to think about what they could do to serve their communities so they are ready to share tomorrow.

We are back to our regular schedule for Sunday mornings now, which means Sunday School at 10 (NE corner of the 2nd floor) and FirstKids Worship at 11 (Children’s Ministry Room, first floor). We are using the Deep Blue curriculum, and will be taking a look at the story of Samuel for these first few weeks. This Sunday, we’ll also be packing flood buckets to contribute to the Houston relief efforts as provided by the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

Please let me know if you’d like to volunteer once per month to help lead this group.

Nursery

This month, we’re focused on the story of Hannah and Samuel. We’re doing a lot of “baby related” activities, and are learning the memory verse: Speak, for your servant is listening.
