Children’s Ministry Happenings for Week Ending January 28, 2018

Here’s what we have going on in Children’s Ministry. We would like to offer transportation on Wednesday afternoons, so can you please let me know if that would be a need for you? Then, maybe, we can formulate a route that gets everyone where they need to be on time. See attached (Elementary_Opportunities (PDF) if you need a reminder about what our kids’ programs look like.

Our Vacation Bible School is scheduled for July 16-20, so save the date!

Tribe 1 (4th-6th)

Sunday mornings: We have been meeting for games, conversation, and prayer and plan to pick up our ukuleles again starting this Sunday. Woohoo for ukuleles! Our plan is to lead the younger Tribe in He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands, but we have to learn it first. Let me know if you have any questions.

Wednesday afternoons: We had an awesome first week back, catching up on each others’ lives and reviewing Bible basics. Carly Carter is the reigning scripture finding champ; who is up for challenging her for that honor? I have a feeling a few might be out for blood, so you’d better be on your A game Carly! This week, we’ll wrap up our discussion of Bible basics, and the week following we’ll start answering the questions the kids have about faith, God, and themselves. For FirstKids Serve, we will be putting together hygiene kits for Kids Need to Eat, Skelly, and other groups (we sorted the stuff last week).

Also, we are looking at Camp dates for Camp Horizon. I’d love to get a group of us going. Please let me know if your kid is interested, and which dates you prefer:

  • July 9-13
  • July 23-27
  • July 30-Aug 3

Tribe 2 (K-3rd)

Sunday mornings: Our younger elementary group has been studying Baptism and some of the early stories in Jesus’ ministry. This week, they’ll see how Jesus transformed one kids lunch into a meal for thousands!

Wednesday afternoons: We sorted many donated hygiene supplies last week; this week, we’re starting to put them together in kits. The kits will be shared with Skelly, Kids Need to Eat, and other groups who could use hygiene supplies. If time allows, we’ll also prepare a dessert for a Thrive! group meeting at the church next week.

Nursery

Our youngest group has spent January learning how Jesus loves children, and that means us, too! Our memory verse is from John 6:14: This is truly the prophet who is coming into the world.

Blessings,
