Children’s Ministry Happenings for Week Ending April 15, 2018

We are planning to take a group of kids to camp at Camp Horizon (near Ark City) this summer from July 30 – August 3. The early bird deadline is coming up soon, so visit here if your kid is interested in going: https://horizoncenter.campbrainregistration.com

We plan to do some fundraisers this spring/summer to help defray the costs. Other dates are available if those don’t work for your family; you can check out the details on the Horizons site.

Also, there is a potluck dinner on Thursday at 6 followed by a Q & A session about how pastors are assigned in the United Methodist Church. Some of our kids’ groups have talked about this, but kids who have additional questions are welcome to participate!

Tribe 1 (4th – 6th)

Our Tribe 1 kids will finish up our discussion on gender and faith by looking at scripture from the New Testament and also discussing how various faith traditions view the roles of men and women in church leadership. The discussion coming out of this topic has been really great; who knew a group of upper elementary aged students could get so worked up about Old Testament law!

Our Sunday morning time still includes ukulele practice and involves working on a skit written by the students. Of course, we’ll also talk about life as we pray for and support one another.

Just a reminder that we’re going to camp July 30 – August 3; register using the link above. We will be working on a fundraiser to help defray costs, and the camp itself has some scholarships available.

Tribe 2 (K-3rd)

This age group is studying some of the stories of Paul during Sunday mornings. Last week we talked about the transformation from Saul to Paul, and this week we’ll be exploring the story of Paul escaping the city when some people wanted to hurt him!

On Wednesday night, we’ll put together the last of the hygiene supplies into hygiene kits, and will also do some planning for future projects.

Nursery

Our nursery kids are studying the story of Easter all month, which involves a lot of “He is Risens” and “Jesus is not here!”  and many Easter Egg related activities.

Have a great week!

Blessings,
