Children are a vital part of worship, and we encourage their involvement and leadership in a number of ways. For music, we have three opportunities for children’s programs throughout the year. During Advent, children prepare and perform music and short skits to celebrate the coming of baby Jesus at Christmas. They also prepare to welcome Jesus into Jerusalem for Palm Sunday, just before Easter. Finally, they share their gift of music with the congregation after Vacation Bible School in July.
Preparations for the three children’s programs as well as other performances takes place at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings in the Youth Room in the basement. Ukuleles practice generally lasts for about 20 minutes, and the following 30 minutes are spent writing and practicing skits or learning additional music.
