Student Ministries

Students are an integral part of the happenings at First United Methodist Church, and we look forward to partnering with you to help the children in your life become Jesus followers. FirstTots designates programs designed for kids from birth – 5 years (but not yet in Kindergarten, see separate tab for those opportunities), and Student Ministries designates programs for kids in grades K-12. With relevant and meaningful programs on Sunday and during the week, it is our hope that families grow together on their journey to worship, grow, give, serve and share.

First United Methodist Church takes safety seriously. We use Safe Gatherings to screen and train our staff and volunteers (https://safegatherings.com). Listed below are some of what you can expect from us to make sure kids are safe:

  1. Staff and volunteers who have gone through rigorous background and reference checks;
  2. Staff and volunteers who have completed boundary awareness training;
  3. At least two adults in every classroom;
  4. A check in process to ensure security;
  5. Physical space  that protects children from injury.

Children’s Music

Children are a vital part of worship, and we encourage their involvement and leadership in a number of ways. For music, we have three opportunities for children’s programs throughout the year. They also prepare to welcome Jesus into Jerusalem for Palm Sunday, just before Easter. Finally, they share their gift of music with the congregation after Vacation Bible School in July. Family

We hope to partner with parents to help raise lifelong followers of Jesus, and now you have the opportunity to be a part of that plan! Whether or not you have children, you are an important part of the work God is doing in the lives of the kids at our church, in our community, and around the world. Research has consistently shown that one of the best predictors for kids continuing to grow in their faith after high school…
