Giving Your Treasure Back to God

Giving Your Treasure Back to God

Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Often we think that our treasure will follow our hearts, but Jesus suggested something different. He said that where our treasure goes (our time, money, and energy), our hearts will follow. Join us in worship for our new sermon series called Treasure. We will explore Matthew 6 and Jesus’ teachings on money, giving, worry, and more.

What is this sermon about?

This sermon is about the opportunity to be part of something bigger than ourselves through our annual giving commitment.

Why is this sermon important?

It is important because it connects our annual giving commitment with the opportunity to be part of what God is doing that is “far beyond all that we could ask or imagine” and find joy and meaning knowing that we played a role.

What is the context of this sermon?

This sermon is the third in our annual stewardship campaign. Next Sunday Bishop Jones is preaching and we will present our annual giving commitment cards in worship.

What are the next action steps?

The next action step is to make a generous annual giving commitment to support God’s work through this church in 2015.

What is the good news (bottom line)?

The good news is that it is possible to “stop collecting treasures … on earth [and] collect treasures … in heaven.”
