Candlelight Christmas Eve Worship

Candlelight Christmas Eve Worship

Join us for Candlelight Christmas Eve with your family, friends and neighbors. We have planned this service with families in mind. You will have the opportunity to share in Holy Communion and the traditional candle lighting ceremony.

Whether you haven’t attended a church for a while or are a long-time member of First United Methodist Church, you are welcome here and will not be out of place. We will sing familiar songs and you will hear the story of the birth of Jesus told again.

Share the Light: Christmas Eve Offering

The world changed when Jesus was born over 2,000 years ago and Christmas can still change the world. We are giving away 100% of offering we receive on Christmas Eve to change the lives of children with 50% going to EmberHope (Youthville) for children in Butler County and 50% going to ZOE for children in Africa.

  • EmberHope (Youthville) is a United Methodist related non-profit that is committed to developing innovative programs that inspire change in at-risk youth and families, including 13 foster families in Butler County. Every $500 that we give will provide two days of care for the 35 foster children placed in Butler County through EmberHope (Youthville).
  • ZOE is a distinctive three-year program, developed in Africa that empowers orphans and vulnerable children to overcome extreme poverty, become fully self-reliant, and learn of God’s love for them. Every $500 helps ZOE provide a cow to several orphan families. They share the cow as it provides milk, fertilizer, and calves until each family has their own.

As congregation, our goal is $4,000 for our Christmas Eve offering so that together we can provide 8 days of care for 35 children in foster care in Butler and four cows to orphan families in Africa. This year, we invite you to spend a little less on gifts for family and friends so that you can free up our resources to love as Jesus loves by giving to those who really need help.
